Maintenance fitter - Night shift

We’re partnering with a leading food manufacturing business in Melbourne’s southeast, currently seeking a skilled Maintenance Fitter to join their night shift team.

This is a hands-on role within a modern, fast-paced production environment, where you’ll play a key role in maintaining plant reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

• Attending to mechanical breakdowns and fault finding across production equipment
• Performing preventative and planned maintenance to maximise uptime
• Supporting production teams with troubleshooting and equipment reliability
• Completing maintenance work orders via CMMS systems
• Working within HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards
• Assisting with contractors, OEMs, and site-based projects
• Contributing to continuous improvement and asset care initiatives
• Maintaining high standards of safety, housekeeping, and quality

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter
• Minimum 2+ years’ maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience within FMCG or food production (highly regarded)
• Strong fault-finding skills on automated machinery and production lines
• Experience working with preventative maintenance systems
• Exposure to CMMS systems (advantageous)
• A proactive, team-focused attitude with strong communication skills

Highly desirable:

• Experience in GMP, HACCP, or ISO environments
• Exposure to utilities such as boilers, compressors, refrigeration systems
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. FMECA)
